What was InterForum?

InterForum was an independent, not-for-profit organisation that worked to ensure that the education, legislation and technologies were in place to help British businesses to profit from the digital economy.

All of InterForum's activities were shaped and determined by its membership, which included some of the best known and most influential suppliers and users of information and communication technologies in the UK, along with considerable representation from Government departments.

InterForum provided members with a unique platform on which they could meet, share their knowledge and concerns, and ultimately work together to build, shape and promote a strong digital economy in Britain.

Governed by the InterForum Council, of which all members form a part, InterForum reached the wider British business community and public sector through a diverse range of activities, events and publications. All of these were designed to:

  • educate British businesses to the opportunities information and communication technologies provide for greater profitability and effectiveness
  • provide impartial advice on the technology available to help British businesses, particularly SMEs, transform their business practices electronically
  • build the appropriate regulatory framework for e-business to prosper in Britain.

Additionally, InterForum operated six special interest groups exclusively for members. These groups addressed specific areas such as e-security, mobile services, providing a direct link to government and local government, and helping small businesses and corporates to adopt new and emerging ICT technologies.
InterForum delivered tremendous value to both its members and UK plc. Using expertise from its membership, InterForum regularly published impartial, freely available white papers and business publications  that focused on specific areas of technology, its nature and application.

InterForum also hosted a wide range of educational seminars, exhibitions, dinners and symposia across the UK that promoted the benefits of ICT technologies to British businesses.

And in partnership with Government, InterForum's hosted the highly acclaimed UK online for business and InterForum National E-Commerce Awards for SMEs - a major tool in raising awareness of the benefits of Internet, information and communication technologies amongst small businesses across the UK.
