InterForum and its role in helping Britain to trade electronically

InterForum was a 10-year, not for profit campaign, which ran from 1996 until 2006. This site highlights the significant role of InterForum in helping Britain to trade electronically and provides insight into Interforum's achievements over this period.

InterForum was responsible for numerous events, programmes, guides and white papers, designed to educate and enable and was supported by influential members from both the public and private sectors, a list of whom can be viewed here.

INTERFORUM
All of InterForum's activities were governed by the compelling need to raise awareness of the many business opportunities and challenges new information and communication technologies (such as the internet) present. Working in partnership with Government and industry, InterForum helped to ensure that the education, legislation and technology were in place to enable British businesses to profit from the digital economy.

The IT Forum Foundation, InterForum's not-for-profit parent company, is pleased to report the creation of a UK-Wide Framework for ICT standards and accreditations. Using 100 graded subcategories over 14 main divisions, the Framework, incorporates numerous search options allowing reporting on every standard by common factor(s) across the following types of paradigm.

  • UK-Wide / International Standards,
  • Accreditations,
  • Skills Frameworks,
  • Codes of Practice
  • Government Regulations

Providing a clarity and scope to UK plc in the area of ICT accreditations and standards, the UK-Wide Framework serves to exemplify the Foundation's commitment to raising understanding and awareness of the commercial and strategic importance of standards.

By making the sourcing of standards data as simple as conceivably possible, the UK-Wide Framework database is of use to companies and individuals who wish to improve their skills base and to companies in the UK bidding on the global market by permitting the rapid acquisition of the necessary standards.

By defining and providing information on relevant codes of practice and skills frameworks readily available, the UK-Wide Framework reduces time spent identifying the relevant documentation and a coherent workplace structure can more quickly be established.
